Please contact the Service Desk for questions about access to the network or services available from SSC. Please try to direct all questions and problems through the Service Desk rather than contacting your favorite staff members.

The primary duties of the SSC Service Desk are to:

  • Troubleshoot network and email problems
  • Respond to service requests involving system security
  • Resolve quickly any issues related to the SSC Exchange System
  • Troubleshoot first-level software, hardware, and network problems on department-owned equipment within the Social Sciences Division.

It is important that you provide us with your name, department, phone extension, or email address to initiate your service request. In general, requests are resolved on a first-come-first-served basis. However, priority will be given to network and email related issues should they arise.

Many of our calls involve performing on-site support and there are times when a service consultant is unavailable at the Service Desk. Lab consultants from the SSC Labs will answer your call, please identify your computing issue and they can create service request on your behalf.  You may also submit a service request online. We will contact you ASAP.

Basic Policies

  1. Equipment submitted for service at SSC must be University property AND used for University purposes
  2. User must demonstrate proof of license for all software (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop, Acrobat) before a SSC consultant installs any licensed software.
  3. Request for data backups and data transfers must not contain private personal data (i.e. Social Security Numbers, Drivers License numbers).
