*COMPLETED* 2/17/19 – 2/18/19 – UCLA Network planned outage
The construction will impact Social Sciences buildings starting from:
Sunday, February 17 around 11:00PM and will complete by 8:00AM on February 18.
The outage is required to reroute a major fiber optic cable that feeds most of the North and Central campus, around the new Anderson Graduate School of Management Tower construction site. The existing three cables (Cables D, E and F) run directly through the construction site, so they must be rerouted to a newly-built pathway. As part of the relocation, we must cut the three fiber optic cables, reroute to the new pathway and then re-splice each cable. We will cut and splice one cable segment each night, for a total of three nights. When we cut each fiber optic cable, the buildings associated with the cut segment will lose network and internet connectivity. Unfortunately, there is no way to avoid this outage.
