Streaming Audio & Video for the Web

Streaming media is a versatile technology that allows you to distribute audio and video over the internet. Adding streaming media to your classroom teaching or course web site is easy. SSC can help you. Please contact David Lederman for questions and more information.

Streaming audio and video is beneficial to both faculty and student.

  • Students benefit by having content available to review lectures and course materials.
  • Faculty members benefit by using technology to enhance the learning experience of students.
  • After presenting lectures once, faculty have the ability to repeatedly deliver the same material to other classes, greatly leveraging their time.
  • UCLA benefits by integrating a new technology into its curriculum that demonstrates pedagogical leadership among peer institutions.
  • Streaming media can easily be integrated into class web sites.
  • The addition of streaming media into a course increases the impact of information, improves student retention of complex concepts, and accelerates the distribution of new ideas.

Here are some examples of how streaming media is currently being used at UCLA. You will need the latest Real Player to watch these videos. You can get the software you need here.
