Handheld devices allow users to access email from their mobile devices which adds value and enhanced productivity. Mobile devices can replace expensive laptops and can save time and money.

The Treo 600 and Treo 650 offered by Palm integrates with the Social Sciences Exchange email system and will be supported by Social Sciences. Support for other mobile devices is limited. Social Sciences uses Goodlink software to communicate from a mobile device to the Social Sciences Exchange server. If you are interested in mobile email access, the following must be purchased by the user or department:

• A Treo device and a data service plan. A data service plan may differ from cell phone service. Please talk to your cell phone provider for pricing plans.
• A Goodlink contract. Sprint and Cingular offer a Goodlink contract with their service plan.

To utilize a mobile device, your email must be on the Exchange server. If your email is not on Exchange, please contact your department tech or call x62821.

After you have purchased your Treo, please email exchange@ssc.ucla.edu. Please include your name, email address, and department. A Goodlink receipt may be needed for pin creation and activation.
