What is Mathematica?

Mathematica is a software system for numerical, symbolic, and graphical computations and visualization. Mathematica features an interactive calculation tool and versatile programming language. Mathematica's electronic documents, called notebooks, allows users to organize text, computations, graphics, and animations for technical reports, coursework, presentations, or records of work. Using MathLink, Mathematica's communication protocol, users can exchange information between Mathematica and other programs.
